Red Teaming
Proposals that do not
address the customer’s tender requirements? Web
sites that make it difficult to find what you are
looking for? Marketing material that does not meet
the needs of the target customer? Software
that is not user friendly? Manuals that are
difficult to read and comprehend?
This happens all the time, to hard working, quality
companies, because the project team gets too
immersed in the work and is so close to the solution
that they can no longer review it objectively. It is
an accepted fact that people assigned to a job,
however qualified they might be, however much time
they spend on Quality Assurance, unconsciously make
assumptions. Defensive ownership mechanisms
come into play that hinder them from carrying out
those final tests. To avoid surprise your team
tries to emulate the customer or/and the evaluator
of the proposal; they role-play. Inevitably,
however, they are only analysing how they would act
in their position. No matter how hard they try
to see through your customers’ or evaluators’
eyes, it is hard to shed their own assumptions,
culture and experience which influences their
analysis.
Ithaki
Consulting can review, ‘Red Team’ your product
for content and quality from the
customer’s and/or evaluator’s point of view to
maximise your chances of winning that proposal,
passing the correct message to your customer and
ensuring that the quality of your product is up to
par and consistent with the image of your
company.
The traditional Red Teaming
process grew out of the US military services’
readiness and evaluation programs, where a unit’s
readiness, capability and campaign plan (the “Blue
Team”) is tested against an Opposing Force (OPFOR)
(the “Red Team”). Red
Teaming Definition A
methodical peer level review for content and quality
by an experienced resource not connected with the
preparation effort of the final product.
What
you get with Ithaki Red Teaming service:
Specific
written comments on re-writing,
improving and/or correcting the final product of your project. What
you will not get: Ithaki
will not make vague comments such as
re-write, reword or dry, will not establish
a reviewing authority attitude and will not
offer destructive criticism.
